| When did you join the Young Marines? I joined the Young Marines at the age of 10-11 years, in 2000-2001. Now I'm 17. Why did you join the Young Marines? I thought that the program would better myself as an individual, setting records for college, and getting physically fit. How did you find out about the Young Marines? My Father saw pictures at the Barber Shop and asked about the young kids in camoflauge and then was informed about the program. What do you like most about the Young Marines? We work together as one family, through the good and bad moments. What are your favorite hobbies? I like to build models, play football and other sports. I like helping people and I love to go fishing! What is your favorite food? Spaghetti and other Italian foods! What are your favorite movies? Adam Sandler movies, Waterboy, Westly Snipes, Blade 1, 2, 3... What advice would you give to new recruits? I would like to advise new coming recruits to be enthusiastic, have bearing, and to PROJECT THEIR VOICES!!!! |

| In Sept 2007. Young Marine SSgt Van took the initiative in an Energency situation and organized a large group of Young Marine volunteers to help at the Red Cross evacuation center in San Bernardino, CA. Young Marines worked side by side with the Salvation Army and Red Cross to make sure the Fire Victims had food, water, shelter, medical attentoion and smiles. East Valley Young Marines salute Van for her efforts. Ooh-Rah! |
